Ch. 581Sasuke vs. Sakon
Chapter Summary: Sasuke vs. Sakon
- Rock Lee vs. Gaara concludes: Rock Lee exhausts himself using the Fifth Gate and launches the Reverse Lotus, damaging Gaara’s Sand Armor and sending him into the air. However, Gaara loses control and releases Shukaku’s chakra, forming a powerful Tailed Beast Cloak.
- Gaara defeats Lee: Gaara uses a massive Wind Release attack to blast Lee away, leaving him unable to move. As Gaara attempts to bury and kill him with sand, examiner Kotetsu intervenes and destroys the attack. He declares Gaara the winner and stops the match.
- Reactions to Gaara’s power: Temari and Kankuro are shocked by Gaara’s reckless activation of the Tailed Beast Cloak. The Konoha examinees fear and question Gaara’s monstrous transformation. Sasuke, however, is excited rather than frightened and openly challenges Gaara, while Gaara insists that Sasuke is only a genius whereas he is a true monster.
- Lee is treated: Medical ninja carry the badly injured Rock Lee away and use the Mystical Palm Technique to stabilize him.
- Sasuke and Sakon begin their match: Sasuke enters the arena confidently, wielding Flying Thunder God Kunai and boasting about his Uchiha abilities. Sakon reacts angrily to Sasuke’s arrogance and vows to teach him a lesson.
- Sakon activates his Curse Mark: Once the match begins, Sasuke throws six marked kunai using Uchiha Shurikenjutsu. Sakon responds by activating Curse Mark Two, gaining scales, horns, black markings, and enhanced power.
- Opening exchange: Sakon fires a large wind blade with the Flying Cleave Technique. Sasuke counters with the Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu, multiplying his kunai into a dense swarm. He then begins using the Flying Thunder God Technique, setting up a likely teleportation-based counterattack.
