Convenience store.
The young woman at the counter was bored, scrolling through her phone and reading a novel on Fruit Novels.
Of course, that was perfectly normal. It was class time, so there weren't many customers around.
Then a voice interrupted her reading.
"Hello. Is the store manager here? Could you ask them to come over?"
The young woman at the counter didn't hesitate. She immediately went to call the manager.
As it happened, the manager was there.
The two of them sat down in the staff break room.
"You know someone your age can't buy alcohol, right?"
The manager frowned at the student in uniform sitting across from him.
U Amakusa had already explained why he was there, which was why they had come to the break room to talk.
"Of course I know. I'm eighteen, but you have to be at least twenty to buy alcohol. So I'm not the one buying it."
U Amakusa continued, "It's my teacher who wants to buy some. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm U Amakusa from Class 1-A."
"Teacher Majima told me the teachers are having a get-together. But the school isn't like the outside world; there aren't any izakayas here. So he asked me to come to the convenience store and buy some beer."
After hearing U Amakusa's explanation, the manager nodded thoughtfully.
Actually, the moment he heard the words "Class A," he had already believed most of it.
And U Amakasa understood the manager's concerns. In Japan, selling alcohol to anyone under twenty was illegal.
So U Amakusa called Majima.
Meanwhile, Majima, who was in the middle of class, frowned and patted his pocket.
He always silenced his phone during class, but left the vibration on.
"Everyone, think about this question. I'll call on someone in a moment."
Then Majima stepped outside the classroom. The contact name on his phone told him who was calling. Frowning, he answered.
"Amakusa, you know what you're doing, don't you?"
As soon as the call connected, Majima took the initiative.
U Amakusa understood what Majima meant. Despite knowing about the school's hidden rules, he had chosen to skip class. It was a deliberate violation.
But U Amakusa had no intention of responding to that.
"That's right, Teacher Majima. I'm buying beer for you. Is ten bottles enough for your get-together? I'm checking with the manager right now."
Only after saying that did U Amakusa turn on speakerphone and set the phone down.
What? What are you talking about?
Majima was completely baffled on the other end. He understood every word, but somehow couldn't make sense of them together.
"Ah, yes, yes. Ten bottles won't be enough. Let's go with..." Majima gritted his teeth and thought for a moment before saying, "Fifty bottles."
Thinking back to what they'd said in the office, Majima realized U Amakusa was buying beer to thank him.
In that case, Majima figured he might as well teach the kid a lesson and give him a bigger number, making him spend more Private Points.
He knew the school's hidden rules, yet he'd still skipped class. It left Majima extremely unhappy.
He had the ability, but seemed unwilling to do anything for his class.
"Okay, got it."
U Amakusa tapped the red phone icon on the screen, ending the call.
The manager asked in confusion, "We can deliver chilled beer, you know?"
U Amakusa tapped a finger on the table and smiled. "I said I don't need that. I like picking it up myself. Just five chilled bottles."
His tone carried an unmistakable note of finality, and his smile was a little chilling.
Following the finger on the table, the manager's gaze landed on the phone beside it, where 40 million Private Points were displayed in plain sight.
The manager forced himself to remain calm. The person in front of him was a first-year student.
Even if Teacher Majima had given him points to buy beer, there was no way he'd have this many. The manager was certain he'd seen correctly.
He was clearly showing off just how capable he was.
The manager knew how this school worked, so he understood that someone like this was usually best left alone.
Especially someone like U Amakusa, the first student he'd ever seen with so many points—and a first-year, to boot.
He didn't know why U Amakusa insisted on picking up the beer himself, but if that was what he wanted, then so be it.
What was he even saying?
This was called knowing when to yield. It was called looking out for yourself. Get it?
[Name: U Amakusa
Gender: Male
Class: Class 1-A
Personal Account: 40 million
Actual Private Points: 42.89 million...]
"Ahem. Whatever you want, kid." The manager stood up and personally poured U Amakusa a cup of tea. "Just let the girl at the counter or me know when you're coming."
The manager understood that U Amakusa would definitely become someone important in the future. This might be his only chance to get close to someone of that caliber.
Manager: I'm just so eager to get ahead.
"Sure." U Amakusa took a small sip of tea. "I'll bring my friend along to pick it up."
U Amakusa deliberately left out the time. Seeing how enthusiastic the manager was, he was afraid that if he said he'd come in the afternoon, the manager might wait around for him.
Ding-a-ling—
Even when the bell rang for the final class of the day to end, U Amakusa's seat was still empty.
Nobody knew where U Amakusa had gone.
The other students were a little puzzled, but they didn't really care. They'd seen plenty of people like him in middle school.
Just a delinquent, that was all.
Even so, Katsuragi Jin, the head of the Katsuragi Faction, showed the bearing of a class representative.
Katsuragi first asked a few of U Amakusa's close friends, including Satoshi Satonaka and Naoki Shimizu.
But Shimizu and the others said they didn't know. They'd messaged U Amakusa, but he hadn't replied.
Katsuragi also asked Kamuro. With a haughty air, Kamuro said she had no idea what that guy was up to.
This kind of behavior reflected poorly on the class. Katsuragi wondered whether he should have a serious talk with U Amakusa.
At the same time, U Amakusa was lying in wait behind a tree near the convenience store. He watched as his target sneaked inside.
"You couldn't hold back after all, huh, Kamuro?"
Once Kamuro was inside, U Amakusa calmly took out his phone, opened the camera, and prepared to go into the convenience store as well.
Before that, another VIP had entered the convenience store.
She had even gone in ahead of Kamuro.
But that didn't affect U Amakusa's plan. She was just a little white-haired girl.
"Hello~ I'm here to pick up the beer. My friend already went to get it."
After entering the convenience store, U Amakusa went straight to the young woman at the register to greet her.
She returned his greeting politely with a nod to show that she understood, then continued checking out a customer.
Next, U Amakusa headed purposefully toward Kamuro, who was acting furtive in front of the refrigerators at the back.
The recording captured Kamuro's every move perfectly.
She glanced around, then quietly took a beer from the refrigerator and stuffed it into her schoolbag.
The whole process was incredibly quick. She touched her chest, looking relieved.
Not far away, Sakayanagi grinned as she recorded the evidence too.
