Goda hadn't died, but he wasn't in good shape either. He had Steve the Dog-man to thank for stopping things in time; otherwise, the entire transport craft would have blown up. Hogg's Book of Lorgar would have gained another member, and Hogg had promised that Goda would enjoy himself once they got back.

He didn't understand how those two recruits had gone from getting along fine to nearly fighting in the blink of an eye. But as a soldier, Steve still warned Hogg not to make a move. Otherwise, being turned into a penitent Servitor was his only fate.

Hogg wasn't easily intimidated, but for the sake of the plan, he swallowed his anger. In the end, everyone landed safely, and the three of them entered the ship called the Icebreaker.

As soon as they touched down, the powered exoskeletons they were wearing began operating on their own. Following their instructions, they carried the three of them by freight elevator to a massive barracks.

There was no handover. Like vegetables on a shelf, Hogg and the others were managed by the central AI. After being assessed through data simulations, they were assigned to companies that matched their ratings.

Goda remained silent throughout the journey. Just as Hogg had been renamed 2234, Goda had been given a new identity too. But his was a little better: he was called Geda, at least a name that sounded similar.

As Dog-man Emperor and Dog-man Chancellor, Hogg and Goda knew the Dog-man language inside out. On the way, they overheard plenty of conversations among the Interstellar Super-Dogs and learned the exact date.

If the outbreak of the War in Heaven was our reference point, then this was probably 180,000 years before it began. In other words, the Dog-man Empire had less than 20,000 years
