The next morning dawned bright and sunny.
Zhang Yang took a special look at the calendar. Nice, it was an auspicious day—and a good one for closing on a property.
So he called Luo Xinyu directly.
"So you finally remembered to call me?" Luo Xinyu said, her voice languid with sleep.
"About the house. Are you free today?" Zhang Yang got straight to the point.
"You woke me up first thing in the morning and didn't even apologize. You're acting like you're completely in the right, too. If it were anyone else, I'd have hung up and blocked them. But since it's you..." Luo Xinyu let out a soft laugh.
"Sure. Just name a time."
"Then let's meet at ten this morning to sign the contract at the Home Realty branch." Zhang Yang checked the time.
"Mm... wait. You're already going to hang up? You won't even make small talk with me? Do you have to be so strictly business every time you call?" Luo Xinyu stopped Zhang Yang just as he was about to end the call.
"What would we make small talk about?" Zhang Yang asked, amused.
From what he could tell, Ms. Luo wasn't just cold on the outside and warm on the inside. She was clingy and spoiled, too. He didn't dare get involved.
He had only himself to blame for drinking that little bit. Look where it had gotten him.
Before heading out, Zhang Yang happened to see a high school classmate's Moments post. The classmate had shared photos from his engagement party, along with a picture of the property deed for his new home.
