The reception hall fell silent, but only for a single breath. Zhou Qiubai made his choice.
"I refuse."
"Do you know what you're refusing?" The man was not angry. His tone carried a pure curiosity. "This is godhood. Something countless people kneel and beg for, and you reject it without even asking about it?"
"Godhood?"
"Godhood, yes." The man also seemed somewhat puzzled. "Power, eternity, authority. To turn your hand and make clouds, flip it and make rain, to decide with ease the life and death of billions of living beings. Are you truly not tempted at all?"

The man was just about to answer when Zhou Qiubai's second question followed right on its heels. "If they pen up blood-food, how is that different from raising beasts?"
