Background

Master Zhang is one of the two administrators responsible for Dragon Mountain Hall's daily operations and its affiliated businesses. Disciples collect cultivation resources through him and Master Sun. 114

He oversees tasks assigned to Upper Academy disciples, including mine patrols, ore-convoy escorts, apprehending disciples who violate their Death-Pledge Contracts, and assisting local authorities. 114

Following the Red Moon Cult's attack on Hall Master Wan Qianshan, Master Zhang remains one of the few figures sustaining the Upper Academy's operations alongside the injured Cao Miao. He makes concessions to secure Imperial Government protection, resulting in Evil-Slaying Guards being stationed at the hall. 145 146 After Ye Yang resigns and the Middle Academy falls into disorder, Master Zhang and Cao Miao agree to temporarily close it. 152

After Wan Qianshan is incapacitated and Cao Miao is severely wounded, Master Zhang helps keep the Upper Academy functioning. He negotiates for official protection and later joins Cao Miao in closing the destabilized Middle Academy. 145 146 152

Resource and Equipment Support

He remains active in the General Affairs Room, delivering gifts of protective training attire and swift-boots to Chen Cheng on behalf of Elder Zhou and Deacon Li. 172
