Good grief! Was Frieza really that bold? At this moment, Karochi was genuinely impressed. Frieza was practically a warrior!
Before Planet Vegito was destroyed, during Frieza's rule over the Saiyans, he had been determined to find the legendary warrior spoken of among their people: the Super Saiyan!
His ancestor Chilled had clearly warned him, "Don't provoke the Super Saiyans!" But what had Frieza done? He'd kept trying to find that legendary warrior.
If King Vegito hadn't kept plotting to rebel against Frieza, Planet Vegito might still exist today. After all, the Saiyans' measly eighteen thousand or so battle power posed no real threat! That is, assuming Beerus hadn't visited Planet Vegito.
And now, after learning that he couldn't find a Super Saiyan, Frieza had turned his attention to the Galactic Warriors.
The Galactic Warriors were the villains who appeared in the Dragon Ball movie Dragon Ball: The Strongest Warrior in the Galaxy. The group had five members: Bojack, Bujin, Gokua, Bido, and their sole female member, Zangya!
These guys were all far stronger than ordinary Super Saiyans. To compare them, let's use Cell, the standard measure of strength in the later parts of Dragon Ball Z.
First, the Galactic Warriors' leader, Bojack, was as strong as Cell in his Perfect Form, with a battle power of at least six billion! His teammates were all roughly as strong as Cell in his second form, with battle powers fluctuating around two billion. Working together, they had even managed to suppress Son Gohan in Super Saiyan Full Power, before he started fighting to kill. That showed just how powerful they were.
How strong was Frieza? 120 million at 100% power! What made him think he could take on the Galactic Warriors? Was this the Frost Demon's fearless youth, when he was afraid of nothing at all!? Karochi silently gave the Emperor a thumbs-up and shouted in his heart, "That's awesome!"
"The Galactic Warriors they asked about are just a legend passed down on our planet! I never imagined it would bring such disaster upon us!" Porto said, his face stricken and his voice mournful.
It was like some rumor of uncertain truth had started circulating in your social circle, then a bunch of gangsters showed up and demanded an explanation. What were you supposed to do?
Uh... (~_~;) Karochi understood. Hadn't Frieza taken over Planet Vegito because of the Super Saiyan legend, too? He didn't even know what a Super Saiyan looked like.
He hadn't expected Frieza to still be so curious. What a waste that he hadn't become a scientist! Instead, he'd gone into the universe's no-capital real estate business. He'd gotten a little sidetracked.
Karochi silently added a label to Frieza in his mind.
"Little Chi, be careful. They've regrouped!" Tights called out. She had been keeping an eye on Ginyu and his men.
Karochi sensed their ki. Jeice and Burter had indeed stopped moving!
"Um, Mr. Porto, what are you planning to do next?" Karochi asked, figuring he might as well help them if he could.
Porto looked lost. His people, the Fidelians, had been all but wiped out, and he had no idea what to do next.
"Do you have a spaceship? The Ginyu Force doesn't just consist of those two we fought earlier! There are three more members, and it looks like there'll be another battle soon. Mr. Porto, you should gather your people and get off this planet as soon as possible. That way, your race will have a chance to survive." Karochi could clearly sense that the Fidelians still had some will to live.
Hope shone in Porto's eyes. He said excitedly, "We do, we do! We have a fully operational spaceship here!"
As a technologically advanced race, spaceships were practically a household necessity for them.
"Then please contact your people as soon as possible. They could show up at any moment!" Karochi urged him, keeping an eye on Ginyu's group.
"Of course! Thank you, sir. May I know your name? If my people manage to escape, we'll pass down your deeds for generations!" Porto's face flushed. He'd never imagined that such a young warrior would help them so much.
Seeing the admiration on his face made Karochi feel a little guilty. His arrival might have provoked Ginyu and the others into killing tens of thousands of Porto's people.
Of course, the outcome probably wouldn't have been much different even if Karochi hadn't come. Working for Frieza meant no benefits and no rights!
"Mr. Porto, you're too kind. Just call me Karochi. There's no need to be so formal!" Ah, would he make it into their history books, too? That was great! (✪▽✪) Karochi spoke modestly, but inside he was delighted.
"So you're Lord Karochi!"
"Um, there's one more thing I'd like to ask you for help with, Mr. Porto!" Karochi scratched his head. He hadn't forgotten why he'd come to this planet.
Porto didn't mind at all. As long as he could help as many of his people as possible survive, nothing else mattered. "Just tell me what you need, Lord Karochi. Anything at all."
"Just call me Karochi, Mr. Porto. I'd like to borrow some spaceship fuel from you! To be honest, my ship was running low, so I planned to stop here and refuel."
"Borrow" was a good choice of word. Since Karochi didn't have any universally accepted currency, borrowing was his only option!
Porto hurriedly said, "Lord Karochi, you don't need to ask! Come with me!"
Porto gave instructions to one of his companions, telling them to gather their people, then led Karochi to the fuel.
So you're just going to ignore me saying you could call me by my name, huh!? Whatever. Karochi decided not to press the matter.
Porto led him to a huge, semicircular building. It, too, had been blown to pieces!
Karochi followed Porto inside and watched as he hauled out five cylindrical, glass-like containers filled with a blue-green liquid.
"Lord Karochi, I'm not sure whether this is the right kind or if there's enough," Porto said awkwardly. He'd never seen what powered Karochi's spaceship, so he could only offer the standard fuel used throughout the universe.
Uh... Karochi honestly had no idea whether it would work. He couldn't make heads or tails of this stuff.
"Little Chi, this fuel will work! It's much purer than what we used on the way here." And there were five whole barrels of it, too. Tights was thrilled that they'd finally solved their fuel problem and wouldn't need to worry about running out later.
Karochi relayed the news to Porto, then put the fuel into a capsule.
Porto was stunned! Spatial-folding technology? Even his people, the Fidelians, hadn't cracked that difficult problem. If they hadn't been short on time, he would have wanted to grab Karochi and ask him who'd invented the technology.
Huh? Just as Karochi finished storing the fuel, his expression suddenly changed.
"Is something wrong, Lord Karochi?" Porto asked cautiously.
"No, it's just that the Ginyu Force is here." Karochi smiled wryly. The ki of Ginyu and the other two had started moving. They were moving fast and would arrive in less than half an hour.
Porto tensed at once. Fear took hold of him, making his breathing quicken.
"Th-then what should we do, Lord Karochi?" Porto asked nervously. It would take his people at least fifty minutes to evacuate.
Karochi fell into thought. The battle couldn't take place here, or he wouldn't be able to protect the Fidelians!
Ginyu was probably stronger than he was, and Jeice and Burter were with him! Karochi had gained psychic powers, but he was certain he couldn't immobilize all three of them at once.
"Here's what we'll do. Get everyone moving as fast as you can. I'll intercept them on the way!" Karochi suggested. It was the safest option for now.
Porto was overwhelmed with excitement. He'd never imagined the young man in front of him would help them so much! It was an unexpected blessing.
He hurriedly knelt to thank him. "Thank you, Lord Karochi! We'll build you a statue and worship you every day!"
Huh? A statue? No, thanks. That sounded dangerous!
Karochi hurriedly waved him off. He was still a kid; he really couldn't accept that kind of treatment.
After giving Porto some instructions, Karochi flew off. If he didn't intercept Ginyu soon, they'd arrive.
"Little Chi, you could come back now, you know." Tights' voice held a trace of hesitation. Compared to the Fidelians, Karochi was clearly more important to her.
She could see how dangerous this battle might be, and she didn't want Karochi to put himself at risk.
Huh? That wouldn't be right, would it!? As the saying went, you had to deliver when you took someone's money. Running away now would be pretty unethical, so he replied, "Don't worry, Sister Tights. I won't overdo it! Besides, my chances are pretty good. I've got my psychic powers to help me and Senzu Beans to heal me. The advantage is mine."
Karochi wasn't exaggerating. Fighting Ginyu would put some pressure on him, but not much!
Especially now that he'd gained Guldo's psychic powers. One hit on Ginyu, and he could take him down in one go! His chances of winning were pretty good. Besides, Karochi really wanted to fight someone around his own strength. His previous fights with Guldo and Recoome hadn't really counted as battles.
Right, he just had to watch out for that sneaky old bastard Ginyu. He might covet Karochi's body.
"Fine, I won't try to talk you out of it. Just be careful. Since Guldo had psychic powers, one of the other three might have some strange ability we don't know about, too! Keep an eye out." Tights sounded reassured.
Huh? Sister Tights, have you seen the storyline too!? Karochi silently teased her in his mind.
Then he answered with a quick "Mm" and closed the channel. Ginyu's ki was drawing closer and closer. Its evil, twisted quality always made him feel sick.
There was also something unsettlingly off about it. Ginyu had the special technique Body Swap, so no one knew what his original body had looked like anymore.
To be honest, Karochi was a little curious!! But it was only mild curiosity. He wouldn't give away that he knew about Ginyu's technique just for that. He was still planning to catch Ginyu off guard.
About ten minutes later, Karochi came to an abrupt stop in midair!! Ginyu, Jeice, and Burter were directly opposite him! The battle was about to begin.
