Recoome stood up and brushed the dust off his body. "Very good, you've successfully angered me. The warm-up is over; now, it's time to play for real."
With a stomp of his feet, he lunged toward Sun Wumian. "Recoome Kick!"
A battle power of 120,000? Stronger than his counterpart in Universe 7, but perfect. You'll make a fine training dummy.
Sun Wumian was slightly surprised, but he met the attack with even greater speed, blocking the flying kick with one hand.
Atatatata...
To onlookers, the two seemed evenly matched, but in reality, Sun Wumian was moving with ease; he was simply using the fight to adapt to his newly acquired power.
After trading blows for a while, Recoome realized his standard attacks were ineffective and used the momentum to create some distance.
"Witness my true power! Eraser Gun!"
A barrage of energy blasts detonated against Sun Wumian, kicking up a thick cloud of smoke that obscured him from the spectators' view.
"Cough, that was a bit of a flashy display, but unfortunately, it's useless." As the dust settled, an unscathed figure emerged.
"How is this possible? That guy's battle power is clearly only 60,000, yet he's completely unharmed after taking Recoome's full-force attack?" Jeice said, unable to believe his eyes.
"Hey, Recoome, are you holding back?" Captain Ginyu shouted.
In truth, it was the exact opposite; Sun Wumian was the one holding back. He didn't need to flare his ki against Recoome—he only needed to spike his power for the split second of an attack or defense, leaving the scouters no time to react.
"Hmph, I was just careless before. Now, prepare to taste the flavor of death. Are you ready?"
As Recoome spoke, he landed on the stage and struck a new pose with both hands raised high: "Recoome! Ultra Fighting Bomber..."
"Again?" Sun Wumian accelerated, appearing instantly before him, and delivered a heavy punch.
"Ah... you bastard... ugh... ugh..." Recoome slowly collapsed, falling into the classic Yamcha pose.
"Sorry, your pose was just too hideous, I couldn't help myself..." Sun Wumian dropped the remark and turned back toward the waiting area.
Shortly after, the referee and host announced his victory.
"You're Sun Wumian, right? Why did you go so hard on a member of the Ginyu Force?" Captain Ginyu walked over, his face dark with interrogation.
"What of it? I just obtained new power and haven't mastered my control yet." Sun Wumian spoke bluntly; he couldn't be bothered to put on a polite face for hypocrites like Frost and his crew.
"Very well. When I face you later, I, Captain Ginyu, will make sure you taste the same fate." Ginyu left a harsh threat and headed toward the stage; his next opponent was an intermediate-level warrior from the Sadala Army.
Is that so? Just as I hoped. That Recoome fellow was far too weak; he didn't help me adapt to my new battle power at all, Sun Wumian thought to himself.
"This is getting interesting. This Ginyu's battle power actually exceeds 200,000, and it doesn't seem like he's showing his full strength yet," Sun Wumian muttered while sitting in the waiting area, watching the match.
He wasn't worried in the slightest, though. With the sign-in system, he was practically invincible—no matter how strong you are, I can just sign in and catch up.
After watching for a while, Ginyu knocked his opponent out of the ring; the Sadala Army warrior, whose peak battle power didn't even reach 200,000, was no match for him.
As the matches concluded one by one, the final eight were decided.
Sun Wumian, Ginyu, Cabba, the Mysterious Saiyan, Jeice, and three Sadala Army warriors with strength nearing that of high-level fighters.
"We will take a ten-minute break before continuing with the second round," the host's voice echoed.
"Not bad, Sun Wumian. Keep it up and bring home the final victory for me," Caulifla said as she walked over and patted Sun Wumian on the shoulder.
"Miss, this is the contestant waiting area. Non-contestants are not allowed inside. Please leave immediately," a staff member said, approaching Caulifla for entering the restricted zone.
"Huh? Do you not know who I am? What if I stay here anyway?" Caulifla turned her head and glared at the man.
"Oh... it's Miss Caulifla. Please... please, do as you wish." Once the staff member realized who she was, he trembled and immediately switched to honorifics.
"Hey, Caulifla, why did you run over here?" Cabba asked, walking toward them with a look of surprise.
"Hey, Cabba, who exactly is this Caulifla? Why does it feel like everyone is afraid of her status rather than just her?" Sun Wumian pulled Cabba aside and whispered.
"Eh? You didn't know? She's the sister of the King of Sadala. Everyone knows that."
"Huh? Is that so?" Sun Wumian was stunned. "Then why did she leave the royal capital to strike out on her own as a bandit?"
Just as Cabba was about to answer, Caulifla leaned in. "Hey, what are you two whispering about?"
"Nothing, it's got nothing to do with you anyway."
"What? It must have something to do with me. Tell me."
Damn it, Cabba, you just gave yourself away. "Actually, I was asking Cabba why you're so strong, Caulifla, and why you didn't join the Sadala Army."
"Tch, is that all? Obviously, it's because I'm too strong. There's no need for me to associate with the weak."
Impressive, impressive. I don't bow to anyone, but I'll bow to you.
Finally, Sun Wumian's second match began, and his opponent was none other than Ginyu.
"Kid, are you ready to face the wrath of Ginyu?"
"Is that so? I'm afraid you don't have the ability to back that up." Sun Wumian wiped his nose and laughed.
"Oh? Quite confident, aren't you? I estimate your battle power is around 300,000. Also, here's a little news for you: I am also someone who can freely change my battle power."
As Ginyu spoke, he made the first move, charging with such extreme speed that a mist of ki formed around his body.
Pa-pa! Bam!
The two exchanged blows, neither yielding an inch, until a dazzling flurry of attacks forced them to separate to opposite sides of the arena.
"I see. Interesting. You seem a bit stronger than I imagined."
"I, on the other hand, find you a bit weaker than I imagined," Sun Wumian replied.
"What? You're too arrogant! I'll beat you until you can't even crawl!"
"As expected of Captain Ginyu, completely unshaken. Even though that brat's combat power is 300,000, the Captain's is still above his," Jeice muttered to himself in the waiting area.
"Hah!" Ginyu let out a roar, firing a projectile from his palm.
BOOM! It exploded directly where Sun Wumian had been standing.
Whoosh! However, he had already vanished, reappearing behind his opponent to deliver a kick in mid-air.
Swish, Ginyu ducked to dodge, countering with a backhanded chop.
Crack! Sun Wumian vanished once more.
ATATATATA... YAH!
Another round of fisticuffs ensued, and Sun Wumian gradually gained the upper hand. The effects were showing; his combat power was steadily transforming into his true strength.
Seeing that standard attacks were ineffective, Ginyu flew rapidly into the high altitude, intending to strike with a ki blast.
To his surprise, Sun Wumian was faster, instantly soaring above him.
"What? So fast! His speed is even greater than mine."
With that, Ginyu was struck by a vicious kick that sent him plummeting into the arena, nearly burying him beneath the debris.
