The Hulk, unconscious on the ground, did not immediately revert to Bruce Banner. Hawkeye Clint Barton stopped Natasha Romanoff, who was filled with concern and intended to check on him, pointing respectively at the Hulk's lower leg and arm blown apart by explosives, his foot severed by the greatsword, and his broken wrist. All of those parts were regenerating at a staggering speed. Thick, snow-white leg bones kept extending, while pink newborn tissue, slick with pus and blood, clung to the ends of his limbs like scars. Bone fragments were forced out of his body by newly grown muscle.

During this process, the new tissue produced large amounts of pus. Those fluids evaporated under the Hulk's rapidly rising body temperature, forming dirty, translucent dark-yellow membranes over his skin that wrapped around the fresh tissue before being rubbed off by the unconscious Hulk's nightmarish movements, like a snake shedding its skin.

"His brain too. His brain is being repaired," Clint Barton reminded them. "The Hulk is about to wake up."

Under normal circumstances, the Hulk falling unconscious would cause him to revert to Bruce Banner, but not this time.

The Hulk's healing speed seemed to have caught the Black Armored Giant's attention as well, but the Black Armored Giant still mounted his heavily armed motorcycle, started the engine, and headed toward the U.S. military convoy stationed in Germany. Compared with the Hulk, who was about to heal and would likely become a threat again, Secretary of State Ross apparently concerned him more.
