This castle hall had originally been the Orthodox family chapel of the previous ruler. Before the war, it had contained a considerable amount of wealth and religious icons. While preserving the church's structure, the construction team had added a great deal of equipment, transforming the chapel, once lit only by candles and natural light, into a venue for speeches in accordance with the Emperor's wishes. The portraits of past dukes that had hung along both sides of the church had long since been removed and replaced with red Eagle Flags trimmed in gold. The sacristy's collections and the religious murals cut directly from the walls had been placed by the Regent in Latveria's capital Museum of Culture and Art for all citizens to view.
As scientific knowledge spread, religions that peddled fear of death lost their mystique and became something utterly insignificant. No one would keep saying that failing to follow the words in some book meant eternal damnation in Hell after death. No one would insist that money had to be donated in order to ascend to Heaven and enjoy everything one had never possessed in life. And no one would believe in the Great Flood or Noah's bizarre inbred cruise-ship zoo.
