After a brief lockdown and wave of protests, the unrest in Romania finally subsided.
Regent Victor von Doom remained stationed at the Romanian Parliament Palace day after day. A company of Hellfire Knights patrolled Bucharest and enforced the curfew, while seventy percent of the palace's vacant space was filled with ammunition supplies, repair parts, heavy combat vehicles, and War Engines—a hardline display that treated the place as a barracks. To the Hellfire Knights, if Bucharest broke faith and rebelled, they would obey the Emperor's will and reclaim it once more. However, the Hellfire Knights had overestimated the agitators' backbone. Once Regent Victor von Doom's orders were issued, they were carried out without the slightest obstruction.
The citywide network was partially reopened, and all goods entering or leaving the city had to be inspected. The voices of protest soon vanished. No one gathered before the square where the Emperor had accepted Romania's instrument of surrender from its president. The methods of subversion and agitation that relied on online communication lost all their former power, and those hiding behind their screens did not dare walk openly into the streets alone. At the same time, investigations into former Romanian officials proceeded in parallel. That was also why the Regent had remained stationed there for so long.
Every day, large numbers of civil servants from Bucharest and its subordinate counties and cities were escorted into the Romanian Parliament Palace by Hellfire Knights and Black Armor Guard aboard transport aircraft or armored personnel carriers. These officials, who had been brought under control in advance, faced only two outcomes: they either remained within the Administrative System or were thrown into prison. They included, but were not limited to, former Senate and House of Representatives members, former presidents, former prime ministers, and so on.
Every day, the
