The lengthy procedures and droning voice made many people begin to nod off, but they had no choice but to sit patiently and vote in favor of the bills the Speaker announced. The Emperor had shown them all a document that detailed each of their living habits, personal connections, transaction records, communication details, and more. Much of it was highly incriminating. The contents of that document were enough for the Emperor to drag them from their offices and shoot them ten times over. Yet he had allowed them to live, because he intended to use them to change the Hungarian Province's longstanding laziness and corruption.
The Speaker's mouth was dry from reading, but he could not pick up the bottled water before him and drain it in one gulp. The front and rear doors of the voting hall had been locked from the outside, and numerous soldiers had surrounded the entire building, barring anyone from approaching. The Speaker's request to use the restroom was denied, and every other legislator received the same treatment. No one was spared, apart from a few lucky fellows who had already been dozing off from the start.
