Mars Mechanical Soldiers were an enormous project, encompassing tens of thousands of specialized implantations, along with large quantities of dedicated light weapons, heavy infantry weapons, and armored forces. By combining this equipment in different ways, entirely new unit types could be formed to meet different battlefield conditions and tactical needs. Ranger Cavalry were the backbone of the Mars Mechanical Soldiers. As the most basic light infantry system, they could handle most battlefield duties. Hunting, guerrilla warfare, and reconnaissance went without saying; Ranger Cavalry could undertake any battlefield task that other light infantry systems could perform.
As the leader of the Ranger Cavalry, Alpha-Bronze 2 possessed every implantation available to the other Ranger Cavalry, as well as implantations none of them possessed. The vast number of Mechanical Implantations made him taller not only than the lightly modified ordinary soldiers of the First Secret Regiment, but also exceptionally conspicuous among a large group of Ranger Cavalry. Their numerous scanning-device implantations allowed the Ranger Cavalry to move through darkness as if walking on level ground, while their highly advanced respiratory circulation systems enabled the flesh and modified living organs that had not yet been replaced with steel to draw in vast amounts of oxygen. The First Secret Regiment soldiers in full-environment combat suits could not do that at all. Even with searchlights and night-vision goggles, they still stumbled along, because the air-raid shelter tunnel was simply too wet and slippery.
However, what Alpha-Bronze 2 had said earlier did not seem to be mockery. He genuinely ordered the Ranger Cavalry to slow down and wait for the First Secret Regiment soldiers behind them to catch up. "This proves the weakness of flesh," one Ranger Cavalry said over the Internal Communication network. "I can even hear their breathing filtration systems operating under heavy load."
"Yes.
