When the Emperor told him about how humanity's ancestors had fallen out of trees on their asses and thus formally begun the evolutionary path toward bipedal walking, Hammurabi insisted on solemnly correcting him. He claimed that the latest fossil analysis showed that factors such as climate change had forced apes, which already possessed a "limb-extending climbing" mode of movement in the forests, out onto the grasslands, where they began using their existing abilities to walk on their hind legs.
Hammurabi was remarkably poor at understanding humor and implication. Sometimes, the Emperor even wondered why he had made him his tribune. Perhaps because he understood absolutely nothing about humor, Hammurabi also could not comprehend what was so fun about jumping in from outside the atmosphere, nor the philosophical significance of the Emperor wanting to jump into Earth from beyond the atmosphere.
Yet it was precisely this dependable and steady temperament that made the Emperor entrust Countess Katarina Karkov's safety to him. The Countess's intelligence network, however, had to be entrusted to Supiluliumas, lest Hammurabi crush her head because of the atrocities she had once committed for her own selfish desires.
"After you return to the estate this Earth Day, will you still need to have dinner with the Witches?" Hammurabi asked as he flipped through his data tablet. "The calories you consumed earlier do not meet even your minimum daily requirement. I will inform Dinah that you have already eaten once at the Space Station. She has received the previous menu, and I believe she will assess today's intake and reduce the calorie target of your next meal accordingly. This will help maintain your health. She has passed the nutrition certification examination. Until the certificate issued by the Sacred Guard expires, you may rest assured and let her prepare your meals."
