It was completely impossible for the Sorcerer Supreme to make Salomon accept an ordinary person's life. It was not because Salomon was unwilling to accept it, but because life in the magical world differed too greatly from that of ordinary people. Bizarre things filled an Arcanist's entire life, and even a fleeting glimpse of the magical world could drive an ordinary person to the brink of madness.

The human body was like a culture dish for microorganisms. Whether humans knew it or not, thousands upon thousands of bacteria lived parasitically on their bodies. Souls could likewise attract parasites, and once an Arcanist opened their true eyes, they could see the Trans-dimensional Bacteria clinging to souls. Of course, not all these little monsters were harmful; some were even beneficial. It was just that some Trans-dimensional Bacteria placed a mental burden on their hosts. But no matter what, when a beautiful young girl greeted you with a head full of multicolored parasites, no one would be interested—not even a hormone-fueled teenage boy.

"That's why I don't date female classmates." Salomon set his glass on the table. He had drained half the iced beer in a single gulp. "Today, I couldn't even make out what their faces looked like."

"Shit!" The others in the bar shook their heads and cursed.

"Merlin's Underwear!" said a British wizard.

Cassilius had brought him to this bar. Like the Leaky Cauldron in "Harry Potter," the No-Door Bar, hidden deep within New York City, was open only to the magical world. Mages from all over the world came here to hang around when they had nothing to do, including the Arcanists of Kamar-Taj. Only here could Salomon drink beer without being arrested by the police.

"See, Salomon? That's no excuse at all." Cassilius sat across from Salomon, smiling.
