The operation was therefore divided into two parts. One force would destroy the nearest U.S. military airfield, buying time for the troops tasked with eliminating the Skrull gathering site.
The Sisterhood, who had previously attacked Langley Airport, was responsible for this mission. Before the main force set out, the Sisterhood had already entered the atmosphere aboard Assault Transports. They would sweep over the U.S. military airfield, using missiles and bombs to precisely destroy the hangars and runways before holding back U.S. reinforcements. But they would not remain there indefinitely. The destruction of the Skrull base still had to proceed, so they would leave behind a small nuclear bomb and a large number of mines.
