Background
Yu Xiaogang is a young martial soul theorist encountered by Bibi Dong and Su Chen in the Martial Soul Hall Library Pavilion. Bibi Dong initially praises his theoretical insight and brings Su Chen to him for guidance on the unprecedented Nine Nether Red-Clad Ghost Emperor martial soul. 3
His own martial soul is a mutated piglet-like creature, and his Innate Soul Power was only level 0.5. He reached level 29 around the age of twenty, attributing the achievement to years of hard work despite his limited talent. 3
Yu Xiaogang seeks access to the Library Pavilion's restricted top floor, believing its records may hold a solution to his martial soul's defects. As a non-member of Martial Soul Hall, he lacks the status required to enter. 19 20
Appearance
Yu Xiaogang is described as a refined, scholarly young man in simple long robes.
- Gentle features and a scholarly temperament. 3
- Short, capable-looking hair. 3
- Later appears noticeably less spirited while being followed through the library by a scar-faced man. 23
Personality
Yu Xiaogang is proud of his knowledge of martial soul theory and readily presents himself as an authority, even when assessing an unrecorded martial soul. He insists that “there are no useless soul masters, only useless martial souls,” despite his own frustration with his mutated martial soul and stalled cultivation. 3
He is deeply sensitive about his talent, martial soul, and expulsion from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Su Chen's challenges repeatedly provoke him into anger and humiliation, particularly when his cultivation and claims of selflessness are scrutinized. 3 20
His determination to cure his martial soul's defect drives his efforts to gain access to Martial Soul Hall's restricted archives. 19 20

Story Role / Major Arcs
Consultation on Su Chen's Martial Soul
Bibi Dong introduces Yu Xiaogang to Su Chen in the Library Pavilion, hoping he can determine an appropriate cultivation route. Yu Xiaogang recommends a speed-focused path, but Su Chen openly disputes his analysis and questions Yu Xiaogang's cultivation and martial soul. Yu Xiaogang storms away after being unable to answer the criticism. 3
Pursuit of the Restricted Archives
After months without meaningful contact from Bibi Dong, Yu Xiaogang waits in the Library Pavilion for an opportunity to speak with her. He asks to accompany Bibi Dong and Su Chen to the top floor but is refused because the floor is restricted to high-ranking Martial Soul Hall members. 19 20
He argues that Martial Soul Hall should publicly share its theoretical records for the benefit of all soul masters. Su Chen counters by asking whether Yu Xiaogang would distribute the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's land and wealth, leaving Yu Xiaogang enraged and unable to respond. 20
Encounter with the Purple-Robed Bishop
Following his rejection from the top floor, Yu Xiaogang is approached by a scar-faced Purple-Robed Bishop. The Bishop exploits Yu Xiaogang's desire for access by proposing an intimate arrangement; Yu Xiaogang rejects the offer and leaves in humiliation. 21
Half a year later, the Bishop is still pursuing Yu Xiaogang around the Library Pavilion, while Yu Xiaogang remains unwilling to reciprocate. 23
