Gotham's Regularly Scheduled Event

Marvel wasn't a household name in the DC Universe, but it certainly drew plenty of attention.

Spider-Man was one of Marvel's biggest stars, and that popularity thrust Du Mu straight into the spotlight among Gotham City's residents.

Everyone began wildly speculating about Spider-Man's real identity.

Was he the familiar Peter Parker from the comics, or someone else entirely?

Opinions flew in every direction.

Still, most residents welcomed this superhero who had appeared out of nowhere.

That was thanks to Du Mu's relentless crime-fighting lately. Gotham City's residents just wanted peaceful lives, and as far as they were concerned, the more superheroes like him, the better.

The Spider-Man name came with a built-in reservoir of goodwill, too. People naturally took him for a friendly neighborhood superhero, just like the one in the comics.

But that was how ordinary residents saw him.

In Gotham's criminal circles, the story was completely different.

Word had spread throughout the underworld that this new Spider-Man was terrifying.

His fighting skills were absurd, his suit was packed with high-tech gear, and he was vicious. Broken arms and legs were getting off lightly.

Most importantly, he never held back.

Any criminal who dared resist him never made it out alive. He sent them all straight to meet God.

His methods were worlds apart from the Spider-Man in the comics, who never killed.

And yet Spider-Man insisted he had a no-killing rule. Every criminal who died at his hands was merely asleep—just sleeping rather peacefully.

His mental state seemed every bit as healthy as that of the patients at Arkham Asylum.

Gotham's criminals had thought Batman was frightening enough. Then Spider-Man came out of nowhere, even more unhinged than that guy in black.

A conspiracy theory even began to circulate: Spider-Man was probably Batman's secret alternate identity.

To protect
