A few days later, Du Mu sprawled on a wide sofa, listlessly pressing the TV remote. Channels flickered rapidly across the screen, but none of them held his interest.
He was on administrative leave, and even Chief Gordon had not contacted him again.
There was no helping it. During the Arkham Asylum riot a few days ago, he had slaughtered dozens of prisoners in one go, instantly clearing out more than half of the already scarce beds.
The incident had grown far too big. Even if Gordon wanted to suppress it, he could not. He had written dozens of reports for submission alone and did not dare call Du Mu back to the station.
After that battle, Du Mu's reputation in Gotham rose to another level.
Besides his previous title of Gotham Gun God, he had now gained a new nickname: the Arkham Warden.
A saying even began to circulate among the public.
Whether Arkham was in chaos or not was up to the Warden.
The good news was that the Arkham Asylum riot event would not be triggering again anytime soon.
The prisoners there already had more or less some psychological issues. After that day's battle royale, all their conditions worsened collectively.
Now, the moment they stepped out of their cells, they would become restless and anxious, always feeling that some mysterious masked man was watching them from the shadows with a Gatling in hand.
For that reason, Gordon specifically asked Du Mu for that little Warden tune. If anything happened at Arkham Asylum again, he planned to put the music on loop throughout the facility, guaranteeing that the prisoners would behave even better than if they had taken sedatives.
The name Arkham Warden did not only circulate within Arkham Asylum; it had spread throughout Gotham's entire underworld.
