The Great Battle of New York (DC Version)

Above downtown Metropolis, an enormous spacecraft hovered in midair, its shape resembling a claw from a toy crane machine enlarged countless times over.

The citizens below all craned their necks upward. Many had already pulled out their phones, and some immediately started taking pictures to post on social media.

All that could be said was that Metropolis citizens had not seen much of the world.

If they had been New York citizens in Du Mu's Main Server, they would have started sprinting full speed in the opposite direction within fractions of a second of spotting an unidentified flying object, without even looking back.

No other reason—practice made perfect.

The giant spacecraft in the sky suddenly made a new move.

A circular opening slowly unfurled across its underside. Blue-white light gathered frantically at its core, its brightness rapidly intensifying.

Boom—!

A thick blue energy beam crashed straight into the ground, pouring out continuously without the slightest sign of stopping.

The street-side windows bore the brunt of it, shattering all at once under the crushing shockwave. Countless shards of glass turned into a waterfall spilling down from above.

At the same time, an identical scene was unfolding on the other side of Earth.

The energy released by the two World Engines pierced through the entire planet and began circulating between them, increasing Earth's mass while injecting particulate matter into its atmosphere and gradually transforming the planet from its core to its surface.

Over in Metropolis, the gravitational field began to warp around the point where the beam struck.

Everything within its range seemed to suddenly break free of Earth's gravitational pull, floating high into the air.

Then, the gravitational field abruptly reversed.

Everything suspended in the air was violently slammed back to the ground by a force far greater than Earth's gravity.
