Unlike in the comics, this universe's Parallax was not an embodiment of fear born at the dawn of the universe. He was Krona, one of the Guardians of the Universe.
Years ago, Krona had conducted a dangerous experiment.
He had tried to harness the yellow light of the emotional spectrum, which represented fear, hoping to use its power for good.
But he had vastly underestimated its strength. The energy consumed and corrupted him, turning him into the embodiment of fear known today as Parallax.
And the big-headed creature standing before them, over ten feet tall, was Krona's true form.
Parallax let out a shrill laugh. Ignoring the Spear of Longinus piercing his body, he reached back and seized Du Mu's arm.
In an instant, blinding yellow light erupted from him. It poured through Du Mu's arm like a flood.
He intended to recreate what had happened to him years ago.
He would corrupt Du Mu with the purest essence of fear and claim his body as his own.
Once he had Du Mu's body, no one on Earth would be able to stop him.

This time, though, no system prompt appeared saying someone had voluntarily given him their power.
The reason was simple: Parallax's power was fundamentally different from Black Sky's.
In gaming terms, Parallax's power was bound to his account. It belonged to him alone. Others could borrow it at most; they could never take it outright.
Black Sky's power, on the other hand, was unbound. Whoever held it owned it. Even its original master could not take it back—and might even
