And Greek mythology—those who knew, knew. It was basically half of Zeus's romantic history.
There was a saying that rabbits did not eat the grass around their burrows, but Zeus specialized in going after exactly that grass.
All seven of his wives were blood relatives, ranging from sisters to aunts, daughters to granddaughters. It was practically a melodramatic family ethics drama.
And that was not even the end of it.
Aside from his seven official wives, Zeus had a whole pile of lovers, men and women alike. Each played wilder than the last, with preferences more varied than the tags on certain websites.
Of all the countless gods in Greek mythology, eight or nine out of ten were Zeus's offspring. After all, he had not earned the title Father of the Gods for nothing.
If Zeus had tightened his belt a little back then, the number of Greek gods would have been cut in half at minimum.
And Ares was one of Zeus's sons.
He was the God of War, governing violence, cruelty, and impulse. He represented the pure desire for war. In modern terms, he was an ultra-masculine meathead whose mind was filled with nothing but fighting.
