A series of thunderous crashes echoed through the Gladiator Arena, drawing everyone's attention.
Deep inside a cell, Nine-Spider Lady had been leaning against the wall with her eyes closed. The racket made her open them in a fury.
What kind of inconsiderate bastard is doing renovations? Can't a woman get some sleep?
She was an Immortal Weapon from the Kingdom of the Spider and among the first captives brought here. She had been locked up for days, dragged out at intervals to fight endless battles against demons.
Only when another Immortal Weapon took her place could she snatch a little rest.
She had finally gotten a break, only to be woken up almost immediately. Nine-Spider Lady was in the kind of mood that came with her monthly visitor. She could have killed someone.
Then something felt wrong. Why did the noise seem to be getting closer?
Boom!
The thought had barely crossed her mind when the thick wall before her exploded. Broken stone and dust blasted toward her.
"What's going on..."
The demons guarding her cell door had no time to react. Black tentacles shot through the hole, whipped past Nine-Spider Lady, and pierced straight through their bodies.
A figure stepped into the cell through the dust, black tentacles writhing slowly around him. He looked rather distinctive.
Distinctively ugly.
His face held only one large, blood-red eye. It swept around the cell before settling on the horrified Nine-Spider Lady. Then his mouth stretched all the way to his ears in a twisted grin that could make a child cry.
"Heh, heh, heh... Don't be afraid. I'm not a good person."
"A ghost!"
The sight was so terrifying that Nine-Spider Lady nearly fainted.
Good thing she hadn't had a sip of water. Otherwise, she would have leaked
