Yang Ping represents the Black Tiger Martial Arts Hall in a tournament whose third-place reward is a drop of Qilin Source Blood. Before facing Shen Xingyue, he privately meets his master, Huang Hu, who orders him to deliberately lose so that the martial hall can secure the reward for an unnamed client. Yang Ping questions why the client wants blood that “couldn't even be cultivated,” but is told only to complete the job. He is privately dissatisfied with being limited to third place. 101

His violent defeat of Lin Ling draws immediate condemnation from the spectators and alerts Xu Ziming and Shen Xingyue to the possibility that he possesses an unusual ability. Lin Ling reports that she could not evade his transformed attacks, leading Shen Xingyue to suspect spatial manipulation. 100
