Background / History

Mu Baobao conceived Battle Armor while studying Spirit Refinement and considering how forged metal, miniature soul guidance arrays, and Soul Master equipment could be combined. He initially lacked a Battle Armor Master capable of condensing arrays directly onto armor, identifying intricate array engraving as the central technical obstacle 4.

He formally named the system “Battle Armor” after explaining its intended role: a crafted, upgradeable replacement for Soul Bones that could provide a full set’s worth of amplification without depending on rare drops from soul beasts 6. Qian Duoduo supported the concept by providing Thousand-Forged armor for array-engraving practice 6.

The first presented Spirit-Forged set was made from Cold Iron, top-grade ice gems, fifth- or sixth-level miniature arrays carved by Qian Duoduo, and Ultimate Ice tempering. Its individual pieces were thousand-year grade, while the completed set was stated to rival a ten-thousand-year Soul Bone 8.

Sea God Pavilion subsequently backed the Soul Guidance Department’s effort to cultivate Forging Masters and Battle Armor Masters, recognizing the armor’s potential to evolve, repair itself, and surpass the advantages of Soul Bones 13. By Mu Baobao’s return to Shrek after two years, the Soul Guidance Department had expanded around Battle Armor research and production 77.

System and Construction

Battle Armor condenses soul guidance formations into compact armor components. Unlike larger humanoid Soul Tools or mecha, it prioritizes flexibility, but this requires exceptionally durable metal and precise miniature arrays; a failed engraving can cause an explosion 5 51.

A standard full set has eleven components:

Soul Bone Replacement

Battle Armor was designed specifically to replace Soul Bones while remaining craftable from metal rather than dependent on soul-beast drops 6 8.

• A complete set can provide amplification comparable to a complete set of Soul Bones of the same grade 6.
• Spirit-Forged armor can become indistinguishable from a thousand-year Soul Bone in function and appearance 8.
• Two-Word armor can merge into the body after soul-binding, like a Soul Bone 8.
• Battle Armor can be nurtured with soul power, spiritual power, and Life Douluo energy to evolve by at least one grade, though testing indicated that it cannot exceed one rank through evolution 8 12.

Combat Amplification

Battle Armor increases a Soul Master’s effective combat strength, though its use is constrained by the wearer’s soul power and spiritual power 6 71.

• Early theory described Battle Armor Masters as gaining strength approximately twenty levels above their normal rank 4.
• Thousand Refinement armor enabled Mu Baobao and Ma Xiaotao to reach Soul Saint-level power against Evil Soul Masters 15.
• Later restrictions reduced the practical increase to slightly above ten levels: six-ring Soul Emperors could use One-Word armor, seven-ring Soul Saints Two-Word armor, and eight-ring Soul Douluos Three-Word armor 71.
• An eight-ring Soul Douluo in Three-Word armor can achieve Titled Douluo-level combat power; a Titled Douluo in Four-Word armor can reach Super Douluo level or approach the pinnacle 71.

Domains and Defense

Higher-word armor grants more than raw amplification.

• Three-Word Battle Armor can awaken a domain and provides automatic defense 4 46.
• Mu Baobao’s Three-Word armor manifested the Good and Evil Domain, allowing him to judge targets as good or evil and respectively strengthen or weaken them 46.
• Four-Word armor has a unique domain with certainty and can conceal itself beneath the wearer’s skin, automatically protecting them in danger 4.

• Standard issue — Thousand Refinement Battle Armor was intended for bulk sale and regular deployment 8.

• Custom sets — Require rare metals, specialized arrays, and substantial funding; custom-made pieces begin at least at Spirit Refinement grade 33 79.
• Production limits — Before the Soul Spirit System could improve spiritual power, Three-Word armor was near the technological ceiling; producing one full set could take an entire semester and endangered the makers 31 40.

• Gongyang Mo — Wore Battle Armor alongside Mu Baobao during the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Tournament finals, reaching Soul Saint-level power 40.
• Dai Yueheng — Used custom Battle Armor suited to his Evil Eye White Tiger martial soul; his set was largely Soul Refined and Three-Word grade 40 79.

Relationship to Mecha

Battle Armor and mecha developed from the same broader problem: using Soul Tools to narrow the power gap between Soul Masters. They later became distinct branches 6.
