The Ōtsutsuki Clan had strict rules, but every corner of it was rife with schemes and deceit. Its members used whatever means they could to secure resources and plotted against one another for status.
For all their power, how had they ended up with fewer than ten members?
And how could any of those survivors be simple? Each either wielded overwhelming power or held leverage over a partner.
Anyone who thought power alone settled matters in the Ōtsutsuki Clan was naive. Higher-ranking Ōtsutsuki kept the lower ranks from gaining access to certain abilities.
Otherwise, why couldn't lower-ranking Ōtsutsuki cultivate Kāma? Why could the higher ranks trample them at will?
Ōtsutsuki Isshiki had learned that lesson the hard way. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was beautiful, so he hadn't restricted her. Instead, he had played the kindly older brother, caring for and teaching her—only to be caught off guard in the end.
After Uchiha Izuna got his answer from Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki, he sealed him inside Daikokuten and stepped back out.
Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki saw Uchiha Izuna emerge alone, and his face flushed with anger. "Isshiki, you've gone too far! We're the last embers of Ōtsutsuki civilization. Are you really going to kill one of our own?"
"Have you forgotten what the Ōtsutsuki elders said back then?"
Uchiha Izuna looked at him as if he were an idiot. "Momoshiki, when did I ever say I was Ōtsutsuki Isshiki? And what makes you think Isshiki could take over my body?"
Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki froze. "Impossible! Daikokuten ranks second among the abilities of the Ōtsutsuki Clan. No one but Isshiki has mastered it. A lowly creature like you couldn't possibly have it."
"Besides, there's no way Isshiki didn't implant a Kāma in you. Once he did, it was only a matter of time before you became him."
