True Despair

Ancient, mysterious characters emerged in the sky. Each time Ōtsutsuki Eki silently recited another passage, more of them appeared.

The skull above his head grew increasingly solid. Green poison fire burned in its eye sockets, and its entire head stirred restlessly, letting out a sinister cackle.

Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki watched his predecessor's actions, his heart surging with excitement.

He knew this was the Ōtsutsuki Inscription, the earliest and greatest invention in this universe. It carried the civilization and heritage of the Ōtsutsuki Clan.

Unfortunately, it had disappeared a thousand years ago. Their names had been given by that remaining old senior. After naming them and assigning their tasks, he had left.

Ōtsutsuki Eki stopped chanting and waved the Poisonwood Staff in his hand. The enormous skull opened its jaws and charged toward the moon.

Otsutsuki Toneri activated his Tenseigan and immediately launched a Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion at it!

Golden light blazed brilliantly, too dazzling to take in. Yet it only made Ōtsutsuki Eki say, "Average. At this level, you do not even qualify as a King's Candidate."

The Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion struck the skull, purifying only some of the poisonous mist before vanishing. The skull, however, continued hurtling toward the moon without slowing.

Otsutsuki Toneri clenched his teeth. He absolutely could not let them destroy the moon. It was the inheritance of Hamura's bloodline, proof that they had once existed.

He closed his eyes, and his aura rose another level.

But that slight increase was merely a drop in the bucket to Ōtsutsuki Eki. "All right, junior. Go wait somewhere else."

Ōtsutsuki Eki sensed Otsutsuki Toneri's ancestral bloodline awakening and regarded him as one of his own. Thus, he merely used chakra to restrain him and pull him away from the moon.
