Kurgarru and Galatur left, thrown straight out of the Underworld by Ereshkigal.
She had never particularly liked those two beings outside the rules to begin with. Now that they had become Ishtar's followers, she disliked them even more.
After throwing Kurgarru and Galatur out, Ereshkigal could not help rubbing her forehead. Then she looked at Annanu, who stood to one side enjoying the spectacle, opened her mouth, and seemed to want to say something.
"You..."
"What is it?" Annanu looked at the Underworld deity, who had been furious just moments ago, somewhat puzzled.
"...Nothing." Ereshkigal's gaze was complicated, but in the end, she sighed and shook her head.
"Thank you for showing me the flowers."
"You're welcome." Annanu was exceedingly polite.
Ereshkigal said nothing more. She merely looked silently at Annanu, a trace of longing in her eyes.
What Annanu understood, she actually understood as well. Those two bastards, Kurgarru and Galatur, had most likely been sent by Ishtar to probe for information about Annanu. In the matter concerning Annanu, Ishtar occupied far too many possible roles.
So what was Ishtar thinking?
Did she want to see Ereshkigal kill Annanu? Or was she simply observing the situation?
Though she did not know her exact intentions, one thing was certain: Ishtar was not planning anything good.
Still, that was something Annanu could make use of.
"Now that Kurgarru and Galatur have left, may I leave the Underworld as well?" Annanu asked with a smile.
"...Can't you stay?" Ereshkigal looked utterly miserable.
She knew she would certainly receive a negative answer, but... she still asked.
"My brother is still waiting for me to return." Annanu gently shook his head.
