Kurgarru and Galatur held hands, bright light shining in both their eyes.
They left the room, left the palace, and headed together toward the Demonic Beast Front.
"What exactly is the Shield of Humanity like?" Gilgamesh stroked his chin.
"Well, in terms of offensive power alone, they definitely wouldn't qualify. But offense isn't what we need right now." Enkidu smiled.
Uruk's offensive capabilities could now be called overwhelmingly powerful.
Goddesses, heroes, the Chains of Heaven, and even the Divine Authority Seals that could be fired from every section of the walls at any time could all inflict enormous damage. What Uruk lacked now was precisely a proper means of defense.
And Kurgarru and Galatur had been born for this very moment.
From that perspective, this was the "meaning" behind the birth of the Shield of Humanity, just as the meaning behind the birth of the Chains of Heaven and the Key of Heaven had been to return Gilgamesh, the Wedge of Heaven, to the embrace of the gods.
However, Kurgarru and Galatur would absolutely not stray from their predetermined path as Annanu and Enkidu had.
"Come to think of it, the Demonic Beast Front was operating when they were created too, wasn't it?" Enkidu said reminiscently, shielding his eyes with one hand as he watched Kurgarru and Galatur depart.
"Hasn't the Demonic Beast Front only been activated twice so far? The last time was when Gugalanna invaded. Tch, just thinking about that makes me wonder whether Ishtar is an idiot." Gilgamesh frowned and bared his teeth. "She actually managed to lose something as enormous as Gugalanna. That clay tablet ought to be hung at the entrance to her temple for a few years."
"Haha, don't dwell on it." Enkidu smiled in consolation. "For now, let's see how they perform."
