A day passed, and now it was the evening of the second day.
King Uther crouched outside a castle, feeling a little uneasy—and ashamed?
This was the domain of the Duke of Cornwall, and this castle was his residence.
First, he had contrived to send the Duke of Cornwall off to the army, intending to use Vortigern's hand to eliminate the lord who had long harbored treasonous intentions. He also planned to use the opportunity to conceal this scheme, which was practically a conspiracy, forever.
Merlin appeared from who knew where and cast Magecraft on King Uther, changing his appearance to resemble the Duke of Cornwall.
King Uther stood awkwardly for a few seconds, then brazenly walked into the Duke of Cornwall's castle.
Lady Igraine, the Duke of Cornwall's wife, knew nothing of this. She thought her husband had returned, and the two of them made their way to the bedroom.
There's no need to elaborate on what happened next. Say too much, and this book might get taken down.
In short, that night, King Uther gave it everything he had and completed this epic NTR mission. (I'm a devoted romance purist, and this really happened in history, so don't flame me.)
Finally, the next morning, after Merlin confirmed it again and again, they were certain Lady Igraine had conceived King Uther's child. Only then did the two leave the castle, while the exhausted Lady Igraine, unaware of everything, slept for a long time.
After King Uther returned to the army, he first gave the order for the knight Ector and court Magecraft user Merlin to lead the infantry back to Camelot. Then he spent the entire day getting himself ready.
At dawn on the third day, King Uther finally decided to enter the city where the Demon Dragon lay in wait, accompanied by several knights.
Among these knights was Anno, whom King Uther knew would be useful. The Duke of Cornwall was a pawn who had already been cast aside, while the other knights were merely capable fighters. King Uther had brought them along on the off chance that a group assault might wear down Vortigern.
The group broke through the city gates and entered the city under King Uther's command.
As expected, the city had long since been deserted. Not a single Saxon was anywhere to be seen.
King Uther headed straight for the castle at the city's center without hesitation.
He could already smell the stench of blood. That monster was waiting for him in the castle.
Anno held a longsword and warily surveyed the city.
After entering the city, the oppressive feeling in his heart grew stronger. The air was thick with the fresh scent of blood, yet there wasn't a single corpse in sight. It was deeply unsettling.
The other knights, however, felt no sense of danger at all. They strolled along, chatting and laughing.
As far as they were concerned, the war had gone very well. Joining the king and a handful of others to kill Vortigern was just a way to earn a reward.
Atop the castle, a tall, gaunt man looked down at King Uther and his party. His mouth stretched from ear to ear in a terrifying grin, and his eyes held a calm madness.
"Uther! So, you've come!" he suddenly shouted. His voice was like a blade, sharp and grating.
King Uther's pupils contracted as he drew his sword from its sheath.
Anno reacted too, rolling to the side to dodge the sonic attack.
King Uther gazed at the white dragon coiled atop the castle and roared, "Vortigern!"
"My dear little brother, Uther!" Vortigern cried, overjoyed.
