The arrival of the three caused quite a stir.
The knight carrying the Sword of Selection, Cailbur, was clearly the so-called new king of Britain; only a new king would have the qualifications to make the two individuals behind him follow.
However, many people harbored suspicions in their hearts.
Setting Merlin aside, would Anno, a noble with superb martial arts, use the new king to manipulate this country?
Such speculation was unavoidable. Anno had previously held immense power in the royal city of Camelot and possessed a very hardline approach. Although he had never overstepped his bounds as a subject, this did not put an end to malicious conjecture.
But the focus of the many nobles present was clearly not on Anno right now.
A noble shouted, "This knight, how did you pull out that sword!"
Arthur remained calm and composed: "Grip it, pull it out, it's that simple." His voice was crisp and resonant.
Then, a crowd of nobles or knights began shouting questions at Arthur, and Arthur chose a few of the loudest ones to answer.
It wasn't until one knight shouted, "You are not of the Pendragon bloodline, by what right do you sit in that position?"
Once this question was asked, the entire square fell into silence, waiting for Arthur's answer.
This included Morgan le Fay, who was observing secretly while hidden in the crowd. In her eyes, the glorious Arthur on the stage was nothing but a thief who had usurped the country.
Arthur frowned slightly, and just as he was about to speak, he felt a hand press down on his shoulder.
He turned his head to look; it was Merlin.
"My King, please allow me to explain." Merlin's face wore an unshakable, gentle expression.
Arthur was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
"Gentlemen knights, perhaps you do not know the King's true name." Merlin stepped forward and said in a loud voice, "The King's name is Arthur, and as for his full name..."
Merlin narrowed his eyes, revealing a fox-like smile: "Arthur Pendragon."
The nobles below the stage were instantly in an uproar.
"Pendragon? His surname is Pendragon?"
"When did His Majesty King Uther have this child?"
"This is impossible!"
A high-ranking noble took the lead and stepped out to question him: "Mr. Merlin, you say his surname is Pendragon, but as far as I know, His Majesty King Uther had no child named Arthur."
"Hmm, news of Arthur was kept secret by His Majesty King Uther," Merlin said. "His Majesty Arthur is the child born to His Majesty King Uther and Queen Igraine. His bloodline is beyond doubt. From birth, he was taken by me, under the instructions of His Majesty King Uther, to be raised in the home of Sir Ector. It was not until recently that Count Anno and I found him and brought him back." Having said this, he glanced at Anno.
Anno also nodded at the appropriate moment: "His Majesty King Arthur is indeed the bloodline of His Majesty King Uther, without a doubt. Several high-ranking nobles can testify to this."
Several close ministers from the time of King Uther recalled an afternoon fourteen years ago when a baby was secretly taken away, and they stepped forward one after another to confirm the existence of King Arthur.
At this point, the majority of the noble knights believed in the bloodline of King Arthur, whether they truly believed it or were merely paying lip service.
The square was filled with the sound of whispering.
Only one person looked at the high-spirited Arthur and his two companions in disbelief, her teeth gritted so hard they seemed ready to shatter.
So that was it!
So this was why her good father was unwilling to pass the throne to her!
He had long since decided who his successor would be; she had never had any chance from the very beginning.
Carrying a sense of loss and resentment, Morgan le Fay left the Camelot square without a sound.
