Oceannus, Who Will Not Be an Enemy of Humanity

Oceannus sat on the deck, staring out at the sea, lost in thought.

"Hey, Oceannus, why didn't you attack earlier? You clearly promised you would." Edward Teach was deeply displeased by Oceannus suddenly controlling the waves and dragging Queen Anne's Revenge away.

"Indeed. Promising to do something and then failing to follow through isn't a good habit, you know, senior." Hector wore a smile, but his words made Oceannus's heart sink.

There was something beneath his words. Oceannus could hear it.

Mary Rico and Anne Bonny stood in the distance, occasionally sneaking glances in their direction.

Oceannus sighed and rubbed his head.

"Sorry. I lost my composure at the time and failed to do what I was supposed to, but..." Oceannus held his head in his hands. "I'm not making excuses for myself. It's just that I saw my mother there."

"Your mother?" Edward Teach tilted his head.

Was Oceannus's mother someone famous?

Hector's eyes flickered. "Doris? The one who accepted the divine position that should have been yours and entered Olympus?"

A strange look appeared in Oceannus's eyes. "My mother and I are sworn enemies of the gods. Since when did my mother enter Olympus?"

"But it's true that she became a god in my place." Oceannus sighed. "That was my intention. The great god knew I had killed Poseidon at sea, and since I died before his punishment could reach me, he would surely take his anger out on those around me."

"That was my homeland. I couldn't just watch it be destroyed, so I made my mother a god, allowing her to take the place of my dead self and protect my homeland."

Oceannus told everyone the story of those days.

"Hmm, so something like that happened. This part wasn't recorded in the myths." Hector kept smiling
