Background / History
Mash was created as an artificial being and was subjected to inhumane Chaldea experiments. Galahad, one of Chaldea's early summoned Servants, refused contact with the former Director but remained to preserve her life. During the Chaldea explosion, he entrusted his Saint Graph and power to her before returning to the Throne of Heroes. 1217
She awakens as a Demi-Servant during the Rayshift to Fuyuki, where Dr. Roman explains that she is now Fujimaru Ritsuka's Servant. Despite fear and uncertainty over her changed body and role, she accompanies Fujimaru into the ruined Singularity. 115 116
For much of the early journey, Mash does not know the identity of the Heroic Spirit within her or the name of her Noble Phantasm. Anno, Roman, and Lawrence deliberately withhold Galahad's identity so she can make the inherited Saint Graph her own rather than merely rely on borrowed power. 137 256
Mash eventually recognizes Galahad as the Knight of the Round Table who gave her power and accepts both his legacy and the emotions tied to it. She resolves to stand as Mash Galahad, not as a replacement for him, and to earn recognition as a knight in her own right. 1160 1217
At the Temple of Time, Mash intercepts Goetia's Third Noble Phantasm to protect Fujimaru and Lawrence. Her body is destroyed, but her shield remains intact and preserves them. Cath Palug/Fou later expends its accumulated magical energy to resurrect her and extend her lifespan, reverting itself into an ordinary beast in the process. 1669 1679
Following her resurrection, Mash's Demi-Servant powers become unstable and then largely inaccessible. She continues to fight despite intense physical strain until Leonardo da Vinci develops the Spirit Origin Exoskeleton to modify her Spirit Origin and return her to the front line. 1684 2420 2540
Appearance
Mash initially manifests as a Demi-Servant in revealing leather armor, carrying a massive shield. Her equipment changes as she accepts Galahad's power and later undergoes Spirit Origin modification. 115 1222 2542
- Carries a large black shield identified with the Round Table. 1217
- After accepting Galahad's name, manifests a one-handed sword, armguards, heavier leg armor, and a purple cloak-like garment. 1222
- Her Spirit Origin Exoskeleton is purple-black, with external armor plating, a bulkier shield with stabilizing spikes, and visor-like goggles providing an expanded field of vision and radar functions. 2542
Personality
Mash is initially anxious about her worth, her inherited power, and whether she can stand beside established Heroic Spirits. She can be awkward in conversation, but remains observant and composed when faced with danger. 132 272
Her defining trait is protectiveness. Mash repeatedly places herself between threats and her allies, treating Fujimaru's safety as her primary duty even when an enemy's power greatly exceeds her own. 248 752 1669
As her journey continues, Mash becomes more self-assured and proactive. She challenges Lancelot to a duel, accepts Galahad's legacy without surrendering her own identity, and chooses to face enemies such as Surtr despite knowing the odds are overwhelming. 1221 1222 2594
