Zi Huai stood frozen for a moment on the vast battlefield of Dong'e, clutching his standard-issue spear in helpless confusion.
"Hey! What are you doing? Do you want to die?!" A comrade from his tent shouted, helping Zi Huai fend off another Qin soldier's attack, his face full of urgency.
"Ah." Zi Huai jolted awake, came back to his senses, and worked with that comrade to kill the Qin soldier.
"What the hell are you thinking about, kid?! This is a battlefield! No one can protect you! The only one who can protect you is yourself!" The Chu soldier from Zi Huai's tent, Huo Qi, roared until his face and neck were red. After saying that, he turned and left.
On the battlefield, there was never any time to rest. There was always something that needed doing.
Zi Huai pressed his lips together, gritted his teeth, and threw himself back into the fight against the Qin soldiers.
Yet his attention remained fixed on Zi Juan the entire time.
Zi Juan spun her spear in dazzling arcs, racing across the battlefield atop her fine steed. Her expression was fierce, yet she had not lost a woman's beauty.
"Sister A-Hua," Zi Juan murmured, though her hands did not slow in the slightest as she panted and stabbed a Qin soldier to death.
"Haah—" Zi Juan thrust her spear like a dragon, lunging forward with her horse and taking a Qin soldier's life. She then pulled back, blocking another Qin soldier's attack.
Although the Chu army had clearly gained the upper hand, there were still plenty of Qin soldiers left, and they did not seem inclined to surrender.
Zi Juan held off several Qin soldiers on horseback without being defeated, leaving Zi Huai utterly dumbfounded.
"Sister A-Hua is this strong?"
