In some legends, the Gorgon sisters even held very high divine status, because their chief goddess, Athena, was in certain Greek myths a Mother Goddess as well as a goddess of serpents.

The reason her divine rank later declined was that the civilization which worshipped Athena as a Mother Goddess was conquered by other civilizations, resulting in all of Athena's authorities being absorbed by Zeus.

The myth of Zeus swallowing Athena, only for Athena to emerge from his head, originated from this. It was also why Athena was such an exceptionally unique figure among the Twelve Olympians.

Of course, this was mythology reconstructed through human archaeological research. Whether it reflected the true myths remained unknown.

But without question, as Athena's servants, it was perfectly natural for the three Gorgon sisters to possess the attributes of subordinate deities.

It was just unclear why that Monster Goddess Gorgon was said to harbor such hatred for humanity and be determined to wipe humans out.

Could it be because, in the legends, a Greek hero had cut off her head?
