The allied fleet had been continuously passing through wormholes toward the Colombia Galaxy. Most wormholes were now under the control of the Saint Masente Civilization, allowing their advance to proceed swiftly.
The Allied Fleet's vanguard consisted of one fleet from Saint Masente, one from the Harich Galaxy, and one from the Perth Galaxy. They had only one objective: reach the Colombia Galaxy as quickly as possible and provide it with protection.
Sending out a vanguard was also an act of desperation for the Saint Masente Civilization. Several days earlier, they had received Julius's plea for help, saying that the Zerg fleet had already appeared beyond the Colombia Galaxy and asking the allied army to arrive as soon as possible. But moving an army was not something that could be accomplished with mere words. Although traveling through wormholes could greatly shorten the distance, the energy consumed by such travel was not something the Saint Masente forces stationed at the wormholes could readily provide.
Furthermore, once an army reached a certain size, logistics became a massive problem. Humans could not go without food or drink like the Zerg. For tens of millions of soldiers, the food consumed each day was an enormous issue. Even if they only drank nutrient solution every day, they would still need sufficient food and minerals to synthesize it.
Thus, the allied forces could only dispatch a vanguard of three fleets. Still, they believed that with those three fleets, even if Colombia no longer possessed any defensive strength, they could at least hold back the Zerg assault and prevent Colombia from falling!
