Su Xiaoqiang comes from a wealthy family described as the largest mine owners in the area. She is driven to Shilan High School in a Mercedes S500, wears expensive clothing, and lives in a villa district. Her family’s wealth also enables her to sponsor renovations to the school gymnasium. 3 8

She and Lu Mingfei first met on their first day of high school, when he mistook Chen Wenwen for the class beauty in front of her. Offended, Su Xiaoqiang stomped on his foot and walked away. Their relationship thereafter became one of frequent bickering, though Lu Mingfei regularly accepted snacks from her. 8

When Lu Mingfei abruptly changes his appearance and behavior, Su Xiaoqiang is among the first classmates to notice. Though initially incredulous, she defends his refusal to attend a Literature Club event when others pressure him. 3
