After Li Yu had figured out how the Magic Array worked, he sat down on the spot and began to meditate.
Once he had some money, he could set one up at home, too. Many of the materials were readily available on the market.
The most expensive part was the Magic Stone. Its price had always been sky-high, and it could even be used as currency.
Li Yu could set up a small one at home later. And with his teacher's advice to use meditation in place of sleep...
Just thinking about it made Li Yu feel great. Setting up a Magic Array at home needed to be added to his to-do list.
Making money was urgent, too. After all, without it, he couldn't do anything. It would be downright embarrassing if he couldn't even afford food!
The first Magic Department class of the day focused mainly on meditation. The other teachers didn't teach anything else.
They spent the rest of the time meditating as well. After a whole morning of meditation class, everyone in the class looked bright-eyed and energetic, without a trace of fatigue.
Li Yu was starting to understand why the Magic Department classes were scheduled for the morning. If nothing unexpected happened, he and the others would have time to meditate every day, get their energy up, and then get worked to the bone in martial arts class in the afternoon...
The lunch bell rang. Once class was dismissed, Li Yu and the others headed for the cafeteria.
Along the way, Li Yu saw the students who had been sorted into different classes. The Magic Department students looked energetic, but the Martial Arts Department students had it rough.
They all looked completely drained, clearly having just gone through intense training.
People really did experience the same day differently. The Martial Arts Department students would probably have plenty more suffering ahead of them. Maybe they'd get used to it eventually.
Li Yu went to the cafeteria and, as usual, picked up his food and prepared to pay with his card. But as soon as he tapped it, the screen showed that the payment had gone through—without deducting anything from his balance.
Confused, Li Yu asked the cafeteria lady, "Ma'am, is the machine broken? It says the payment went through, but my balance hasn't changed."
At Li Yu's question, the cafeteria lady took a look and smiled. "You're in the Special Class, right? Starting today, Special Class students eat for free."
She explained the reason to Li Yu. The machine wasn't broken; the school had waived the Special Class students' meal fees.
The news surprised Li Yu, but after thinking it over, he didn't dwell on it. It was a good thing, and would save him quite a bit of money.
With that in mind, Li Yu thanked her, picked up his food, and found a seat.
The students who had been lining up nearby had heard his conversation with the cafeteria lady. Quite a few of those behind Li Yu looked envious.
It seemed the school really did value this class. Who knew what other resources they might provide down the line?
Li Yu didn't care about the envious looks. He quickly found a seat, finished his meal, and returned to the classroom to scroll through his phone.
When the afternoon martial arts class began, Shizuka Hiratsuka first checked everyone's homework and reviewed what she had taught them the day before.
Only then did she start teaching them something new. There was no practical training that afternoon; they spent the whole class learning.
At the end of the day, Li Yu sighed. "What a shame... We didn't have any practical training today. I wanted to test out my swordsmanship."
It was such a disappointment. He'd brought his weapon for nothing. If they'd had practical training today, he would've shown his opponent what the Ultimate Ghost Sword Technique was all about.
Yukino Yukinoshita was nearby and heard what Li Yu said. She rolled her eyes, silently resolving never to spar with him.
Especially since he used a weapon. Who knew what kind of skills he'd mastered, or just how strong he'd become?
Everyone else in the class was steadily getting stronger, but Li Yu? He didn't even bother pretending. His strength had shot up like a rocket.
That afternoon, Shizuka Hiratsuka had said that if Li Yu kept progressing at this rate, he'd be able to graduate in no time. She wouldn't have anything left to teach him.
Li Yu didn't need to learn much more about technique. The only thing he was lacking was True Qi.
Even in that regard, he was already miles ahead of everyone else. It probably wouldn't be long before Li Yu left all his classmates in the dust.
Comparing yourself to others could really make you miserable. So Yukino had firmly decided she would never fight Li Yu. She couldn't keep up with his progress, and sparring with him would just be asking for a beating.
Besides, Li Yu showed absolutely no mercy when he went after someone. She was afraid he'd beat her to death if she fought him!
After school, Li Yu headed straight home, but quite a few of his classmates stayed behind.
They planned to use the classroom to train. Everyone had started pushing themselves without being asked.
Quite a few students in the Special Class were already just one step away from reaching the third tier. If they didn't hurry up now, when would they?
So they got to work, pushing themselves hard. They didn't have freakish talent like Li Yu, so the only way to get stronger was to push themselves harder.
Meanwhile, Li Yu had no idea what his classmates were up to. He didn't go straight home after leaving school; instead, he started wandering around.
The city was full of people on patrol. Li Yu had barely left the school when he'd already run into at least three patrols.
The people in the city had heard that there might be danger outside, so they hurried from place to place, afraid of running into something.
Feeling the wary atmosphere around him, Li Yu frowned. The situation was worse than he'd imagined.
Otherwise, the city wouldn't be under such tight lockdown, with patrols going out at regular intervals. This had never happened before.
At least, as far as Li Yu could remember, nothing like this had ever happened in this city.
Li Yu wandered around the city with his weapon. Since he planned to explore, he'd left everything else at school and brought only one weapon with him.
He'd been in this world for two days, but hadn't really gotten to know the city. This was a good chance to look around.
After all, for those two days, Li Yu had only been in his rented apartment or at school. He hadn't had a chance to explore.
Li Yu wandered around the city alone. Although it was under lockdown, the residents weren't affected much.
There were simply fewer people out on the streets and more people on patrol.
Seeing the patrols in action, Li Yu could tell that he probably wouldn't get the chance to find any monsters to fight.
With patrols this thorough, any monster that showed its face would be taken down instantly. Even if it kept out of sight, they'd still hunt it down. There probably wouldn't be anything left for Li Yu to do.
Li Yu's hopes of finding monsters to fight had fallen through. There was no chance for him to get involved.
