You Should Have Slapped Her

Teacher Li wasn't wrong. He was only good at wind and water magic, so those were the only kinds he could teach next.

Under the bewildered stares of his classmates, Li Yu easily learned every spell Teacher Li taught him, and still seemed eager for more.

But the sight made Teacher Li furrow his brow. He couldn't help asking, "Li Yu, you're about to reach the fourth tier, aren't you? You've used so many beginner spells, yet your mana hasn't run dry!"

That was what surprised him most. Li Yu had an enormous amount of mana. Teacher Li hadn't paid much attention at first, but seeing him cast so many beginner spells without even breaking a sweat finally made him realize it.

"That's right, Teacher. I'm probably close. I have plenty of mana right now, so how about teaching me some intermediate spells?" Li Yu rubbed his hands together, looking at Teacher Li expectantly.

However, Teacher Li turned down his request and solemnly warned him, "You'd better not study intermediate spells before reaching the fourth tier!"

Li Yu was taken aback. After thinking it over for a moment, he nodded. There was no reason for Teacher Li to lie to him about something like this.

"Intermediate spells are on a completely different level from beginner spells. Even if you have enough mana, you might not be able to cast one. If you force it, your mana will be completely drained, and that kind of depletion can't be recovered from." Seeing Li Yu nod, Teacher Li explained the reason.

Why was reaching the fourth tier a requirement for learning intermediate magic? There was definitely a reason. Every rule had some outrageous incident behind it.

There were plenty of people with enough mana to cast intermediate spells, but using one left them severely depleted—so severely that there was no making up for it.

That was why every school and individual warned students, when they reached the fourth tier and began studying intermediate magic, never to teach it to anyone below the third tier.

Why do you think there were no magic lessons online? All you could find were martial techniques and moves. With magic, one wrong step could leave you regretting it for the rest of your life.

There was no way to undo the damage. So if you searched online for magic, all you'd find were beginner lessons on things like meditation.

After Teacher Li explained everything, Li Yu understood. So that was the reason behind it. Many of his classmates were hearing about it for the first time, too.

"Come see me when you reach the fourth tier if you want to learn intermediate magic. Not now. You're probably close, so there's no need to rush over a day or two." Teacher Li pushed up his glasses and looked at Li Yu.

This boy's progress was absurd. He got stronger as if he had cheat codes. Most of the class hadn't even reached the third tier, yet this guy was already charging toward the fourth.

Didn't he have any bottlenecks? Teacher Li had never seen a student with such outrageous talent. He could only say that people who grew up alongside Li Yu were in for a treat!

Thinking of that, Teacher Li glanced at the classmates watching nearby and couldn't help muttering to himself. Thank goodness he hadn't been Li Yu's contemporary.

Teacher Li didn't teach Li Yu anything else after that. Once he had answered some of the students' questions, he let everyone practice on their own, telling them to get comfortable with the spell before thinking about anything else.

By the afternoon, Shizuka Hiratsuka had decisively ramped up the training. She pushed the class harder, and under her pressure, those who were already at their limits and just one step away from a breakthrough finally reached the third tier.

They'd already been right on the verge. Now Shizuka Hiratsuka had raised the difficulty, and they either broke through or got beaten black and blue.

To help everyone break through quickly, Shizuka Hiratsuka brought out Yukino Yukinoshita and Li Yu to spar against the rest of the class!

Li Yu was more than happy to help. Unfortunately, he was only assigned to the boys, not the girls. Otherwise, he would've been even more excited.

But boys it was. He'd just treat it as a chance to hone his combat skills. Over the course of the afternoon, Li Yu fought his classmates one after another, and left many of them black and blue.

"If you don't want to go home with a bruised face, hurry up and break through. Yukinoshita, you're going too easy on them. You should slap them hard enough to make their faces swell. The humiliation will force them to tap into their potential." Li Yu punched a classmate and sent him flying.

He even pointed over at Yukino Yukinoshita as he spoke. Hearing him, Shizuka Hiratsuka's lips curled into a slight smile, and she agreed wholeheartedly. "He's right. Yukinoshita, you're not hitting them hard enough!"

How the hell was that the same thing? Yukino Yukinoshita wanted to swear, but held back. If she tried Li Yu's approach, every single one of the girls would end up treating her like an enemy.

Men had no idea how petty girls could be. As a woman herself, Yukinoshita knew perfectly well. Girls held grudges like nobody else!

"Mind your own business!" Yukino Yukinoshita snorted. She couldn't be bothered with Li Yu and continued sparring with her classmate at her own pace.

The girl sparring with Yukino Yukinoshita was on high alert. She was afraid Yukinoshita might suddenly slap her. If that happened, she'd really cry!

Just look at the boys Li Yu had beaten black and blue. The girls didn't want to suffer the same fate, so the girl's nerves were stretched to the breaking point.

Under all that pressure, she finally condensed her True Qi and broke through to the third tier. Yukino Yukinoshita was a little surprised by the sight.

Well, she definitely shouldn't listen to Li Yu. She'd stick to her own pace. The girl had broken through, hadn't she?

After they sparred for a while, Yukino Yukinoshita stopped and looked quietly at the girl. "All right, Xia Yu. Congratulations on breaking through."

Hearing Yukino Yukinoshita, the girl named Xia Yu breathed a sigh of relief. She thanked Yukinoshita and then stepped aside.

Next, another classmate took her place. As Xia Yu passed her, she couldn't help whispering, "Be careful. I think Yukinoshita took Li Yu's advice to heart. Just now, I felt like she was always about to slap me."

At those words, the girl about to take the field pictured Yukino Yukinoshita suddenly grabbing her by the hair and slapping her hard, like she was beating up a mistress...

The image was too vivid. The girl's nerves immediately went taut, and she watched Yukinoshita warily. Yukino Yukinoshita, for her part, had no idea what was going on.

But Shizuka Hiratsuka had heard Xia Yu. She nearly burst out laughing. Good grief, just good grief. Who knew Li Yu's words would have such an effect?
