Ch. 601Shiroyasha, Are You Trying to Steal My Prize?
Plot points and events
- Mio asks Li Yu when she can return to her world, eager to escape after Little Kurma beat her. Li Yu explains that the Kabbalistic Tree of Life has been moved to this world, leaving Mio’s connection to it—and her former source of strength—greatly weakened.
- With her Spirit Crystals gone and the Spirits now independent, Mio realizes that returning would leave her vulnerable, especially to Kurumi and Origami. She gives up on leaving for now.
- Little Kurma demands that Mio apologize. Mio does, but Origami refuses to accept it because Mio caused her parents’ deaths; Kurumi also remains silent and unforgiving.
- Shiroyasha offers to take Mio and the Itsuka sisters to Little Garden, hoping to recruit them and gain influence over the Biblical Pantheon. Little Kurma objects, treating Mio as someone she intends to keep under her own influence, and Shiroyasha withdraws.
- Li Yu tells Little Kurma not to seriously injure Mio, then advises Mio that she must face the consequences of her actions—or find a way to bring the dead back. Origami says she will accept Mio’s apology if her parents are resurrected. Mio has no such means in her world and must seek another solution.
Character developments and interactions
- Mio shifts from demanding to leave to recognizing that she is trapped by her weakened position. She apologizes under pressure, but the rejection leaves her with the challenge of making amends.
- Origami remains firmly driven by grief and revenge. She refuses a simple apology but identifies resurrection as the one condition that could change her mind.
- Kurumi stays guarded and does not accept Mio’s apology, though Li Yu suggests that her anger has softened and that she is partly enjoying seeing Mio face consequences.
- Little Kurma acts protectively toward Kurumi and Origami while also viewing Mio as a potential future ally—or “prize”—after the others have had their chance to confront her.
- Shiroyasha sees Mio’s unusual nature and potential value, but backs down when she realizes Little Kurma has claimed an interest in her and Li Yu stands behind Little Kurma.
- Li Yu remains amused and detached, allowing Little Kurma to handle Mio while offering her a possible path toward reconciliation.
Significant themes
- Consequences and accountability: Mio cannot undo past harm with a quick apology; she must endure the resentment she caused.
- Power and dependence: The transfer of the Tree of Life strips Mio of much of her security, reversing the balance of power between her and her former victims.
- Reconciliation and restitution: Origami’s condition makes clear that forgiveness would require addressing the loss itself, not merely expressing regret.
- Control and rivalry: Little Kurma and Shiroyasha’s competing interest in Mio turns her possible future into a contest, while Mio hopes to use that rivalry to escape her predicament.
