Quirk's attack speed couldn't keep up with their running speed.
These creatures were as nimble as fleas. With the slightest movement, they could instantly dart high into the air, and the ground was as soft as bread to them. They moved with incredible speed, whether above or below ground.
It was a contest between strength and agility.
Quirk continuously controlled the speed of his gears, circling to block their lightning-fast attacks.
"You idiots, why aren't you fighting the Goat-Man Devil? What are you doing here? We're allies now, understand? Go ask your master—you've got the wrong people, you fools!" Quirk said irritably.
At the word "allies," the suited middle-aged man dangling from Quirk's hand immediately let out muffled struggling noises. His face turned even redder.
"Look, you Satan lackeys, this guy in my hand is our ally too! Look how angry you've made an ally! Stop right now."
The creatures turned a deaf ear to Quirk's words and simply kept attacking back and forth.
Budiman was entangled by three of them. The instant his tentacles struck them, their bodies dissolved into clouds of black mist.
Against one or two of them, he might still have had a chance of winning. But facing three at once, Budiman was completely tied down.
Moreover, the three creatures seemed to be deliberately widening the distance between Budiman and Quirk, forcing him in another direction.
During a gap in Quirk's gear swings, he failed to dodge in time. The middle-aged man in his grasp was snatched away by a canine demon that shot in sideways from behind like a cannonball.
By the time he noticed, the demon had already appeared over a kilometer away with the man in hand.
