"By then, your power might even surpass that of some ordinary Hell-level beings."
Having figured out the key to it, Wu Heng raised a hand. The enormous black chain in the sky, carrying the tricolored beam pierced through by its iron hook, descended before him.
"There are three traits within it: arrogance, hypocrisy, and depravity. Which one do you choose?" Wu Heng asked Naoko.
"I choose 'depravity,'" Naoko answered without hesitation.
Wu Heng nodded.
Naoko's choice of depravity was not because she wanted to wallow in corruption. Rather, once "depravity" was under Wu Heng's control, the depravity she comprehended would naturally take Wu Heng as its target.
To fall forever into Wu Heng's Hell.
It was a solid choice, one that would further reinforce her loyalty and ensure she could never betray him, though the current Naoko neither had the ability nor the possibility of betrayal.
There was another reason Naoko had chosen it: among the three traits, "depravity" was the strongest.
Lucifer simply had not reached a sufficient level. In the beginning, it had not relied on the power of "depravity." Only after comprehending that trait did it abandon its original trait, believing the two could not coexist, and choose "depravity."
It had switched paths halfway through.
Though it was already powerful, it had never reached the strongest state of the "depravity" trait. It was still far from it.
Naoko had made this choice because she wanted to become Wu Heng's Hell's foremost subordinate.
She feared that one day, Wu Heng would gain even more powerful vassals, and she would no longer be his first choice.
So she had to become stronger, no matter how indescribable the pain she had to endure.
Perhaps this was Naoko's obsession from beginning to end.
Wu Heng was not surprised in the slightest.
