After Crowley left, only Dean and Sam remained in the room, along with the parchment on the table.
Dean walked over, picked up the paper, and examined it carefully.
The paper was old, its edges yellowed. Complex runes had been drawn across its surface in black ink, the marks glinting faintly as though they had not yet dried.
"Was he telling the truth?" Sam asked.
"Some of it was probably true." Dean folded the parchment and tucked it into the inner pocket of his jacket. "Everything about Castiel checked out—the writing on the wall, the magic circle on the floor... But he definitely hid something about his own motives. Crowley never helps for free. He must have an agenda."
"Then we..."
"Find Lohr first."
Balance Field, Wu Heng's office.
The room was simple: a solid wood desk, two chairs, a bookshelf, and a world map on the wall. There were no decorations, no personal belongings. It looked like a model room in a hotel.
Wu Heng sat behind the desk reading a report. He did not even look up when Dean and Sam entered.
"Sit."
The two sat down.
The moment Dean's ass touched the chair, he impatiently blurted out, "We need—"
"I know about Castiel and Leviathan." Wu Heng set down the report and raised his head. "Crowley told you?"
Sam froze. "How did you...?"
"I watched him leave that office building," Wu Heng said. "From the moment you went in, to Crowley appearing, to the end of your conversation, I knew the entire process. The Balance Field surveillance network has a coverage radius of fifty kilometers. Did you forget?"
Dean took a deep breath. "So you knew something was wrong with Castiel all along, but you didn't tell us?"
"What would telling you have changed?" Wu Heng asked.
