They climbed to the edge of a twenty-seventh-floor window and flipped inside.
Dick Roman, who had left the top floor because of the supermodel showdown on the rooftop and had only just arrived here, saw the two of them and immediately smiled, his expression full of disdain and contempt.
"Just you two?" As he spoke, he took off his suit. His body began to swell, his white shirt splitting apart to reveal skin covered in pale yellow scales.
The scales gleamed metallically beneath the lights. Each was the size of a palm, with edges as sharp as blades. His fingers turned into claws, and fleshy tumors bulged from his back. The tumors split open, extending even more tentacles.
"No." Sam gently shook his head. "Of course it won't be just the two of us clearing out you Leviathans. We have our other hunters too."
He pressed a button on his communicator.
Hunters storming in from below the skyscraper, hiding in the streets, in the buildings across from them, and even in the air all opened fire at once.
Borax rounds, incendiary rounds, and specially made armor-piercing bullets poured into the room like torrential rain. The Leviathans' tentacles were blasted apart, and their black-robed hosts were knocked down, but Dick Roman's scales blocked most of the attacks.
"Useless." Dick roared and charged at Dean, moving so fast that only an afterimage remained.
Dean raised his blade to block. Claws collided with silver steel, sending sparks flying.
The difference in strength was too great. Dean was knocked backward, his arm going numb. Dick's other claw slashed toward his chest. Sam rushed over and caught it with his hunting knife, but the knife was swatted away, and three bone-deep wounds were carved across Sam's chest.
