Ash held a wooden plaque in his left hand and a chainsaw in his right. Combined with the large swath of blood staining his clothes, he looked like a midnight killer.
The five of them supported one another as they fled miserably back toward the cabin through the dark forest night.
Cold gusts and howls drifted constantly through the darkness around them, wavering and indistinct, but their numbers could be felt steadily growing.
Creak, creak!
A series of slow footsteps came from the woods on either side.
Ash turned back and saw a group of rotting corpses. Some had nothing left but skeletons, while others still had putrid flesh hanging from their bodies and continually falling away. Some were draped in rotten meat crawling with maggots, while others were drowned walking corpses whose bodies had become giant-sized.
They limped toward the five of them.
These were undead revived by the incantation played on the recorder. Their strength was not particularly great, roughly equivalent to that of an ordinary person.
Wu Heng sat leisurely inside the cabin, eating barbecue as he waited.
Bang!
The wooden door was violently shoved open.
Ash and the others rushed into the cabin in disarray and hurriedly turned to shut the door. Each of them was covered in disgusting fluids. They had still been caught by the walking corpses on their way back.
Those things were not especially formidable, but they were revolting.
Even when only a head remained, they would still open their mouths and try to bite people.
"Whew, we finally made it back."
"What the fuck are those things?"
"Call that landlord. Can you still reach him, Ash?"
"Okay, I'll call—no, there's no signal at all. We can't even call the police."
"I don't care about any of that. I want to leave.
