The splattered fragments of scalp landed on his hem, and he disgustedly shook them out the car window.
A streak of blood stained his floral shirt, darker and richer than the other blood already on him.
"Oh, I think we got this driver killed. Maybe we shouldn't have taken his cab."
Pablo spoke with some guilt.
"There's no time for guilt. If we don't hurry and find the Book of Evil Spirits, find someone to decipher it, and close the Evil Spirit passage, this world will be destroyed."
"Look on the bright side. At least we got a car for free, and we don't have to pay the fare anymore."
Ash took over the wheel and stepped on the gas, continuing onward without commenting on the driver's death.
Pablo touched his chest again, guilt flashing across his face before it was replaced by resolve.
They soon arrived at Kelly's old home.
The beige, battered car was parked by the roadside outside the door. The two hurried out, walked up to the entrance, and knocked.
Kelly was the one who answered.
"Huh? How did you get here?" she asked in confusion.
"Oh, you want to know how I got here? You took something you shouldn't have taken. Hand over the Book of Evil Spirits. Do you know what kind of mistake you've made?"
"What Book of Evil Spirits? You weren't going to help me, so I just went home by myself," Kelly said, puzzled.
As she spoke, footsteps sounded from inside, and two more figures came to the door.
"Oh, right, I forgot to introduce you. This is my dad and my mom."
"It turns out my mom never died. When she fell into the sea, the waves washed her ashore somewhere else. Then she lost her memory, and only now
