Kevin felt as though he had finally been satisfied. He suddenly realized that his wife had not truly been taken from him. There might once have been misunderstandings between them, but she still loved him.
Jeff stood motionless at the doorway, his right hand braced against the doorframe as he unconsciously clenched it. The frame creaked under his grip, and three finger marks appeared in the newly renovated wood.
At that moment, a violent explosion suddenly erupted from the southeast of Red Creek Town.
The entire town shook, and the tremors were unmistakable.
"An earthquake? What's going on? Is it an earthquake?"
"Run! Get out of the buildings!"
"Darling, wait for me!"
A wave of clamor immediately rose from the streets as people poured out of their offices and homes into open areas.
"How could there be an earthquake in Red Creek Town? This is flatland!" someone said in disbelief.
But the shaking beneath their feet could not have been faked.
Only a short while later did confirmed information emerge: a fissure and collapse had appeared in Conrad Alley, southeast of Red Creek Town.
A triangular sinkhole roughly fifty square meters across had formed there.
The enormous triangular pit was bottomless. Some people had even seen red magma glowing within it, and the entire alley had been swallowed by the abyss.
All the buildings and houses had slid down its slanted walls and fallen inside!
Ron had felt it all as
