Background / History

The Xiao Family is the surviving Wutan City branch of the ancient Xiao Clan, once described as the strongest of the Eight Ancient Clans and a lineage that produced Dou Emperor experts. Its former patriarch, Xiao Xuan, attempted to break through to the Dou Emperor realm by exhausting the clan’s imperial bloodline, but failed. The ensuing loss of the bloodline’s core foundation left the clan vulnerable to the Hun Clan’s invasion and eventual collapse. 36 37 87

After the ancient Xiao Clan disintegrated, scattered survivors established hidden branches across the continent. The Wutan City Xiao Family preserved one such bloodline, but its inheritance faded over generations until it became an insignificant local clan with few gifted cultivators. 87

The family retained the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade as an heirloom. The jade drew the Ancient Clan’s covert attention; Xiao Xun’er was placed in the family from childhood in part to seek it, though Xiao Zhan and the family genuinely treated her as one of their own. 15 17
