Background / History

Mystic Ice Marrow manifests as Xu Qing's ice-attribute martial soul and can be condensed directly from his Soul Power. Its earliest known creations were formed through the fusion of Xu Qing's soul rings, producing marrow with unusually high purity and an overwhelming attraction to ice-attribute soul beasts. Sky Dream Ice Silkworm became mentally unstable after tasting it and ultimately performed a complete soul sacrifice for Xu Qing. 5 6

Xu Qing later established that Mystic Ice Marrow could be used to influence soul beasts with weak wills. He describes it as poison-like: once tasted, it is difficult to abandon. 6 Its effects made it central to his dealings with the Ice Empress, whom he supplied with marrow to restore her power, accumulate ice-attribute origin energy, and eventually face her tribulations. 18 22 61

In the Ten-Thousand-Year Mystic Ice Cave, Xu Qing used the cave's reserves to force the martial soul through its final evolution. After reaching Great Completion, it could condense Mystic Ice Marrow comparable to the cave's natural Ten-Thousand-Year specimens. 59 60 61

Appearance

Before its evolution, Mystic Ice Marrow commonly manifests as an eerie blue, cone- or shuttle-shaped crystalline mass. Xu Qing can deliberately mold it into different edible forms, including cups, candy-bean-sized pieces, walnut-sized portions, and popsicles. 5 18 44

After reaching Great Completion, it becomes almost transparent and icy-white, resembling polished moonlit crystal.
