On Rat Island, where pirates had gathered.
The pirates who had reveled the previous day lay sprawled all over the ground, sleeping haphazardly.
The island was thick with all manner of odors after the feast—alcohol, cigarette butts, food scraps, sweat, and excrement.
Before anyone realized it, the sun had risen above the horizon. The sunlight and the chilly sea breeze made several pirates shiver involuntarily, waking them from the cold wind.
"Ugh, it's really cold. Why did we come here to drink yesterday?"
"This place is too close to the shore. Let's go back and get some proper sleep."
"Hey, hey, what's that over there? There are so many ships."
"You're still drunk, aren't you? Of course those are our pirate ships..."
As the voice abruptly cut off, the pirates rubbed their bleary eyes and looked out to sea, only to discover that something seemed off about the pirate ships docked along the coast.
Looking more closely, they saw neatly arranged warships not far from the pirate vessels. Even more warships were taking positions around the island, apparently intending to surround it completely.
In an instant, their drowsiness was replaced by cold sweat. Several pirates shouted frantically as they scrambled toward the center of the island.
"This is bad! The Marines, the Marines are here!!"
"The Marine fleet is here! Wake up!!"
Before long, the pirates had awakened quite a few of their sleeping companions. But just as they anxiously looked at the vast number of pirates still lost in dreams, cannon fire completed the task for them.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Dense cannon fire began blanketing the sinful little island, and the pirates fell into chaos amid the barrage.
Some pirates ran toward the center of the island, while others tried to rush for the pirate ships
